T6 – The New Town in Detail (3 hours)

Come and and take a delightful walk of the most recent historic town of Prague. Despite being called the New Town, it originates in the 14th century. Unlike the other towns of Prague, this is a place where the past and modernity meet. On our way, we will discover treasures of architecture spanning from Gothic until the present day, see the famous places which played a crucial part in the history of our country and enjoy the view of the city from the top of the famous Dancing House.

Highlights of the Tour:

The Republic Square (Namesti republiky)

Our tour will start in front of the Municipal House, the most beautiful building of the Prague’s Art Nouveau. Passing the Powder Tower, we will take a pleasant walk along the stylish, tree-lined On The Moat boulevard which is flanked with elegant houses and palaces with chic boutiques.

The Wenceslas Square

You will learn about the dramatic history of the most important square of Prague and see its most significant buildings as the National Museum or the Lucerna Palace. In the famous Art Nouveau Lucerna Passage, you will discover the funny statue of St. Wenceslas sitting on his upside down hanging horse.

The Dancing House

This very unique and unusual building, also nicknamed Ginger and Fred, is certainly the most famous work of Prague’s modern architecture. You will discover its very interesting histrory and from its upper floor, you will enjoy a unique view of the river Vltava and the Prague Castle.

The Vltava Embankments

At the beginning of the 20th century, richly decorated residential buildings covered the embankments of the River Vltava. We will take a stroll along one of them – the Masaryk Embankment.

The National Theatre and the Slavia Cafe

From the green Slavic Island, we will enjoy the view of the National Theatre, a pride of all the Czech people. If you wish, we may stop for a coffee in the legendary Slavia Cafe which has always been a favourite meeting point of writers, actors and intellectuals. Along the National Street, we will return to the Wenceslas Square where the tour ends.
